Tissametteyyasuttavaṇṇanā

Methunamanuyuttassā ti Tissametteyyasuttaṃ. Kā uppatti? Bhagavati kira Sāvatthiyaṃ viharante Tissametteyyā nāma dve sahāyā Sāvatthiṃ agamaṃsu. Te sāyanhasamayaṃ mahājanaṃ Jetavanābhimukhaṃ gacchantaṃ disvā “kuhiṃ gacchathā” ti pucchiṃsu. Tato tehi “buddho loke uppanno, bahujanahitāya dhammaṃ deseti, taṃ sotuṃ Jetavanaṃ gacchāmā” ti vutte “mayampi sossāmā” ti agamaṃsu. Te avañjhadhammadesakassa Bhagavato dhammadesanaṃ sutvā parisantare nisinnā va cintesuṃ “na sakkā agāramajjhe ṭhitenāyaṃ dhammo paripūretun” ti. Atha pakkante mahājane Bhagavantaṃ pabbajjaṃ yāciṃsu. Bhagavā “ime pabbājehī” ti aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ āṇāpesi. So te pabbājetvā tacapañcakakammaṭṭhānaṃ datvā araññavāsaṃ gantum āraddho. Metteyyo Tissaṃ āha “āvuso, upajjhāyo araññaṃ gacchati, mayam pi gacchāmā” ti. Tisso “alaṃ āvuso, Bhagavato dassanaṃ dhammassavanañ ca ahaṃ pihemi, gaccha tvan” ti vatvā na agamāsi. Metteyyo upajjhāyena saha gantvā araññe samaṇadhammaṃ karonto na cirass’eva arahattaṃ pāpuṇi saddhiṃ ācariyupajjhāyehi. Tissassāpi jeṭṭhabhātā byādhinā kālam akāsi. So taṃ sutvā attano gāmaṃ agamāsi, tatra naṃ ñātakā palobhetvā uppabbājesuṃ. Metteyyo pi ācariyupajjhāyehi saddhiṃ Sāvatthiṃ āgato. Atha Bhagavā vutthavasso janapadacārikaṃ caramāno anupubbena taṃ gāmaṃ pāpuṇi. Tattha Metteyyo Bhagavantaṃ vanditvā “imasmiṃ, bhante, gāme mama gihisahāyo atthi, muhuttaṃ tāva āgametha anukampaṃ upādāyā” ti vatvā gāmaṃ pavisitvā taṃ Bhagavato santikaṃ ānetvā ekamantaṃ ṭhito tassatthāya ādigāthāya Bhagavantaṃ pañhaṃ pucchi. Tassa Bhagavā byākaronto avasesagāthāyo abhāsi. Ayam assa suttassa uppatti.

Tattha methunam anuyuttassā ti methunadhammasamāyuttassa. Itī ti evam āha, āyasmā ti piyavacanam etaṃ, Tisso ti nāmaṃ tassa therassa. So hi Tisso ti nāmena. Metteyyo ti gottaṃ, gottavasen’eva c’esa pākaṭo ahosi. Tasmā aṭṭhuppattiyaṃ vuttaṃ “Tissametteyyā nāma dve sahāyā” ti. Vighātan ti upaghātaṃ, brūhī ti ācikkha, mārisā ti piyavacanam etaṃ, nidukkhā ti vuttaṃ hoti. Sutvāna tava sāsanan ti tava vacanaṃ sutvā. Viveke sikkhissāmase ti sahāyaṃ ārabbha dhammadesanaṃ yācanto bhaṇati. So pana sikkhitasikkho yeva.

Mussate vāpi sāsanan ti pariyattipaṭipattito duvidham pi sāsanaṃ nassati. vāpī ti padapūraṇamattaṃ. Etaṃ tasmiṃ anāriyan ti tasmiṃ puggale etaṃ anariyaṃ, yad idaṃ micchāpaṭipadā.

Eko pubbe caritvānā ti pabbajjāsaṅkhātena vā gaṇavossaggaṭṭhena vā pubbe eko viharitvā. Yānaṃ bhantaṃ va taṃ loke, hīnam āhu puthujjanan ti taṃ vibbhantakaṃ puggalaṃ yathā hatthiyānādiyānaṃ adantaṃ visamaṃ ārohati, ārohakam pi bhañjati, papāte pi papatati. Evaṃ kāyaduccaritādivisamārohanena narakādīsu, atthabhañjanena1 jātipapātādīsu papatanena ca yānaṃ bhantaṃ va āhu hīnaṃ puthujjanañ ca āhū ti.

Yaso kitti cā ti lābhasakkāro pasaṃsā ca. Pubbe ti pabbajitabhāve. Hāyate vāpi tassa sā ti tassa vibbhantakassa sato so ca yaso sā ca kitti hāyati. Etam pi disvā ti etam pi pubbe yasakittīnaṃ bhāvaṃ pacchā ca hāniṃ disvā. Sikkhetha methunaṃ vippahātave ti tisso sikkhā sikkhetha. Kiṃ kāraṇaṃ? Methunaṃ vippahātave, methunappahānatthāyā ti vuttaṃ hoti.

Yo hi methunaṃ na vippajahati, saṅkappehi…pe… tathāvidho. Tattha pareto ti samannāgato. Paresaṃ nigghosan ti upajjhāyādīnaṃ nindāvacanaṃ. Maṅku hotī ti dummano hoti.

Ito parā gāthā pākaṭasambandhā eva. Tāsu satthānī ti kāyaduccaritādīni. Tāni hi attano paresañ ca chedanaṭṭhena “satthānī” ti vuccanti. Tesu cāyaṃ visesato codito musāvacanasatthān’eva karoti “iminā kāraṇenāhaṃ vibbhanto” ti bhaṇanto. Ten’evāha “Esa khv assa mahāgedho, mosavajjaṃ pagāhatī” ti. Tattha esa khv assā ti esa kho assa, mahāgedho ti mahābandhanaṃ. Katamo ti ce? Yad idaṃ mosavajjaṃ pagāhati, svāssa musāvādajjhogāho mahāgedho ti veditabbo.

Mando va parikissatī ti pāṇavadhādīni karonto tatonidānañ ca dukkham anubhonto bhogapariyesanarakkhanāni ca karonto momūho viya parikilissati.

“Etam ādīnavaṃ ñatvā, muni pubbāpare idhā” ti etaṃ “yaso kitti ca yā pubbe, hāyate vāpi tassa sā” ti ito pabhuti vutte pubbāpare idha imasmiṃ sāsane pubbato apare samaṇabhāvato vibbhantakabhāve ādīnavaṃ muni ñatvā.

Etad ariyānam uttaman ti yad idaṃ vivekacariyā, etaṃ buddhādīnaṃ ariyānaṃ uttamaṃ, tasmā vivekañ ñeva sikkhethā ti adhippāyo. Na tena seṭṭho maññethā ti tena ca vivekena na attānaṃ “seṭṭho ahan” ti maññeyya, tena thaddho na bhaveyyā ti vuttaṃ hoti.

Rittassā ti vivittassa kāyaduccaritādīhi virahitassa. Oghatiṇṇassa pihayanti, kāmesu gadhitā pajā ti vatthukāmesu laggā sattā tassa caturoghatiṇṇassa pihayanti iṇāyikā viya āṇaṇyassā ti arahattanikūṭena desanaṃ niṭṭhāpesi. Desanāpariyosāne Tisso sotāpattiphalaṃ patvā pacchā pabbajitvā arahattaṃ sacchākāsī ti.
