Sakaṃ sakaṃ diṭṭhi paribbasānā ti Cūḷabyūhasuttaṃ. Kā uppatti? Idam pi tasmiṃ yeva mahāsamaye “sabbe pi ime diṭṭhigatikā ‘sādhurūp’amhā’ ti bhaṇanti, kiṃ nu kho sādhurūpā va ime attano yeva diṭṭhiyā patiṭṭhahanti, udāhu aññam pi diṭṭhiṃ gaṇhantī” ti uppannacittānaṃ ekaccānaṃ devatānaṃ tam atthaṃ pakāsetuṃ purimanayen’eva nimmitabuddhena attānaṃ pucchāpetvā vuttaṃ.

Tattha ādito dve pi gāthā pucchāgāthā yeva. Tāsu sakaṃ sakaṃ diṭṭhi paribbasānā ti attano attano diṭṭhiyā vasamānā. Viggayha nānā kusalā vadantī ti diṭṭhibalaggāhaṃ gahetvā, tattha “kusalā’mhā” ti paṭijānamānā puthu puthu vadanti ekaṃ na vadanti. Yo evaṃ jānāti sa vedi dhammaṃ idaṃ paṭikosam akevalī so ti tañ ca diṭṭhiṃ sandhāya yo evaṃ jānāti, so dhammaṃ vedi, idaṃ pana paṭikkosanto hīno hotī ti vadanti.

Idāni tisso vissajjanagāthā honti. Tā purimaḍḍhena vuttam atthaṃ pacchimaḍḍhena paṭibyūhitvā ṭhitā, tena byūhena uttarasuttato ca appakattā idaṃ suttaṃ “Cūḷabyūhan” ti nāmaṃ labhati. Tattha parassa ce dhamman ti parassa diṭṭhiṃ. Sabbe va bālā ti evaṃ sante sabbe va ime bālā hontī ti adhippāyo. Kiṃ kāraṇaṃ? Sabbe v’ime diṭṭhi paribbasānā ti.

Sandiṭṭhiyā c’eva na vīvadātā, saṃsuddhapaññā kusalā mutīmā ti sakāya diṭṭhiyā na vivadātā na vodātā saṃkiliṭṭhā va samānā, saṃsuddhapaññā ca kusalā ca mutimanto ca te honti ce. Atha vā “sandiṭṭhiyā ce pana vīvadātā” ti pi pāṭho. Tass’attho sakāya pana diṭṭhiyā vodātā saṃsuddhapaññā kusalā mutimanto honti ce. Na tesaṃ kocī ti evaṃ sante tesaṃ eko pi hīnapañño na hoti. Kiṃkāraṇā? Diṭṭhī hi tesam pi tathā samattā, yathā itaresan ti.

“Na vāham etan” ti gāthāya saṅkhepattho yaṃ te mithu dve dve janā aññamaññaṃ “bālo” ti āhu, ahaṃ etaṃ tathiyaṃ tacchan ti n’eva brūmi. Kiṃkāraṇā? Yasmā sabbe te sakaṃ sakaṃ diṭṭhiṃ “idam eva saccaṃ mogham aññan” ti akaṃsu. Tena ca kāraṇena paraṃ “bālo” ti dahanti. Ettha ca “tathiyan” ti “kathivan” ti dve pi pāṭhā.

“Yam āhū” ti pucchāgāthāya yaṃ diṭṭhisaccaṃ tathiyan ti eke āhu.

“Ekañ hi saccan” ti vissajjanagāthāya ekaṃ saccaṃ nirodho maggo vā. Yasmiṃ pajā no vivade pajānan ti yamhi sacce pajānanto pajā no vivadeyya. Sayaṃ thunantī ti attanā vadanti.

“Kasmā nū” ti pucchāgāthāya pavādiyāse ti vādino. Udāhu te takkam anussarantī ti te vādino udāhu attano takkamattaṃ anugacchanti.

“Na h’evā” ti vissajjanagāthāya aññatra saññāya niccānī ti ṭhapetvā saññāmattena niccan ti gahitaggahaṇāni. Takkañ ca diṭṭhīsu pakappayitvā ti attano micchāsaṅkappamattaṃ diṭṭhīsu janetvā. Yasmā pana diṭṭhīsu vitakkaṃ janentā diṭṭhiyo pi janenti, tasmā Niddese vuttaṃ “diṭṭhigatāni janenti sañjanentī” ti ādi (mahāni. 121).

Idāni evaṃ nānāsaccesu asantesu takkamattam anussarantānaṃ diṭṭhigatikānaṃ vippaṭipattiṃ dassetuṃ “diṭṭhe sute” ti ādikā gāthāyo abhāsi.
Tattha diṭṭhe ti diṭṭhaṃ, diṭṭhasuddhin ti adhippāyo. Esa nayo sutādīsu. Ete ca nissāya vimānadassī ti ete diṭṭhidhamme nissayitvā suddhibhāva-saṅkhātaṃ vimānaṃ asammānaṃ passanto pi. Vinicchaye ṭhatvā pahassamāno, bālo paro akkusalo ti cāhā ti evaṃ vimānadassī pi tasmiṃ diṭṭhivinicchaye ṭhatvā tuṭṭhijāto hāsajāto hutvā “paro hīno ca avidvā cā” ti evaṃ vadati yeva.

Evaṃ sante “yen’evā” ti gāthā. Tattha sayam attanā ti sayam eva attānaṃ. Vimānetī ti garahati. Tad eva pāvā ti tad eva vacanaṃ diṭṭhiṃ vadati, taṃ vā puggalaṃ.

“Atisāradiṭṭhiyā” ti gāthāy’attho: so evaṃ tāya lakkhaṇātisāriniyā atisāradiṭṭhiyā samatto puṇṇo uddhumāto, tena ca diṭṭhimānena matto “paripuṇṇo ahaṃ kevalī” ti evaṃ paripuṇṇamānī sayam eva attānaṃ manasā “ahaṃ paṇḍito” ti abhisiñcati. Kiṃkāraṇā? Diṭṭhī hi sā tassa tathā samattā ti.

“Parassa ce” ti gāthāya sambandho attho ca: kiñca bhiyyo? Yo so vinicchaye ṭhatvā pahassamāno “bālo paro akkusalo” ti cāha, tassa parassa ce hi vacasā so tena vuccamāno nihīno hoti, tumo sahā hoti nihīnapañño, so pi ten’eva saha nihīnapañño hoti. So pi hi naṃ “bālo” ti vadati. Ath’assa vacanaṃ appamāṇaṃ, so pana sayam eva vedagū ca dhīro ca hoti, evaṃ sante na koci bālo samaṇesu atthi. Sabbe pi hi te attano icchāya paṇḍitā.

“Aññaṃ ito” ti gāthāya sambandho attho ca: “atha ce sayaṃ vedagū hoti dhīro, na koci bālo samaṇesu atthī” ti evañ hi vutte pi siyā kassaci “kasmā” ti. Tattha vuccate yasmā aññaṃ ito yābhivadanti dhammaṃ aparaddhā suddhim akevalī te, evam pi titthiyā puthuso vadanti, ye ito aññaṃ diṭṭhiṃ abhivadanti, ye aparaddhā viraddhā suddhimaggaṃ, akevalino ca te ti evaṃ puthutitthiyā yasmā vadantī ti vuttaṃ hoti. Kasmā pan’evaṃ vadantī ti ce? Sandiṭṭhirāgena hi te’bhirattā, yasmā sakena diṭṭhirāgena abhirattā ti vuttaṃ hoti.

Evaṃ abhirattā ca “idh’eva suddhin” ti gāthā. Tattha sakāyane ti sakamagge. Daḷhaṃ vadānā ti daḷhavādā.

Evañ ca daḷhavādesu tesu yo koci titthiyo sakāyane vā pi daḷhaṃ vadāno kam ettha bālo ti paraṃ daheyya, saṅkhepato tattha sassatuccheda-saṅkhāte vitthārato vā natthika-issarakāraṇa-niyatādibhede sake āyatane “idam eva saccan” ti daḷhaṃ vadāno kaṃ paraṃ ettha diṭṭhigate “bālo” ti saha dhammena passeyya, nanu sabbo pi tassa matena paṇḍito eva suppaṭipanno eva ca. Evaṃ sante ca sayam eva so medhagam āvaheyya paraṃ vadaṃ bālam asuddhidhammaṃ, so pi paraṃ “bālo ca asuddhidhammo ca ayan” ti vadanto attanā va kalahaṃ āvaheyya. Kasmā? Yasmā sabbo pi tassa matena paṇḍito eva suppaṭipanno eva ca.

Evaṃ sabbathā pi vinicchaye ṭhatvā sayaṃ pamāya uddhaṃsa lokasmiṃ vivādam eti, diṭṭhiyaṃ ṭhatvā sayañ ca satthārādīni minitvā so bhiyyo vivādam etī ti. Evaṃ pana vinicchayesu ādīnavaṃ ñatvā ariyamaggena hitvāna sabbāni vinicchayāni na medhagaṃ kubbati jantu loke ti arahattanikūṭena desanaṃ niṭṭhāpesi. Desanāpariyosāne Purābhedasutte vuttasadiso evābhisamayo ahosī ti.
