Upasīvasuttavaṇṇanā

Eko ahan ti Upasīvasuttaṃ. Tattha mahantam oghan ti mahantaṃ oghaṃ. Anissito ti puggalaṃ vā dhammaṃ vā anissito. No visahāmī ti na sakkomi. Ārammaṇan ti nissayaṃ. Yaṃ nissito ti yaṃ puggalaṃ vā dhammaṃ vā nissito.

Idāni yasmā so brāhmaṇo ākiñcaññāyatanalābhī tañ ca santam pi nissayaṃ na jānāti, ten’assa Bhagavā tañ ca nissayaṃ uttari ca niyyānapathaṃ dassento “ākiñcaññan” ti gātham āha.
Tattha pekkhamāno ti taṃ ākiñcaññāyatana-samāpattiṃ sato samāpajjitvā vuṭṭhahitvā ca aniccādivasena passamāno. Natthī ti nissāyā ti taṃ “natthi kiñcī” ti pavatta-samāpattiṃ ārammaṇaṃ katvā. Tarassu oghan ti tato pabhuti pavattāya vipassanāya yathānurūpaṃ catubbidham pi oghaṃ tarassu. Kathāhī ti kathaṃkathāhi. Taṇhakkhayaṃ nattamahābhipassā ti rattindivaṃ nibbānaṃ vibhūtaṃ katvā passa. Eten’assa diṭṭhadhammasukhavihāraṃ katheti.

Idāni “kāme pahāyā” ti sutvā vikkhambhanavasena attanā pahīne kāme sampassamāno “sabbesū” ti gātham āha. Tattha hitvā m-aññan ti aññaṃ tato heṭṭhā chabbidham pi samāpattiṃ hitvā. Saññāvimokkhe parame ti sattasu saññāvimokkhesu uttame ākiñcaññāyatane. Tiṭṭhe nu so tattha anānuyāyī ti so puggalo tattha ākiñcaññāyatana-brahmaloke avigacchamāno tiṭṭheyya nū ti pucchati. Ath’assa Bhagavā saṭṭhi-kappa-sahassa-mattaṃ yeva ṭhānaṃ anujānanto tatiya gātham āha.

Evaṃ tassa tattha ṭhānaṃ sutvā idāni’ssa sassatucchedabhāvaṃ pucchanto “tiṭṭhe ce” ti gātham āha. Tattha pūgam pi vassānan ti anekasaṅkhyam pi vassānaṃ, gaṇarāsin ti attho. “Pūgam pi vassānī” ti pi pāṭho, tattha vibhatti-byattayena sāmivacanassa paccattavacanaṃ kattabbaṃ, pūgan ti vā etassa bahūnī ti attho vattabbo. “Pūgānī” ti vā pi paṭhanti, purimapāṭho yeva sabbasundaro. Tatth’eva so sītisiyā vimutto ti so puggalo tatth’evākiñcaññāyatane nānādukkhehi vimutto sītibhāvappatto bhaveyya, nibbānappatto sassato hutvā tiṭṭheyyā ti adhippāyo. Cavetha viññāṇaṃ tathāvidhassā ti udāhu tathāvidhassa viññāṇaṃ anupādāya parinibbāyeyyā ti ucchedaṃ pucchati, paṭisandhiggahaṇatthaṃ vā pi bhaveyyā ti paṭisandhim pi tassa pucchati.

Ath’assa Bhagavā ucchedasassataṃ anupagamma tattha uppannassa ariyasāvakassa anupādāya parinibbānaṃ dassento “accī yathā” ti gātham āha. Tattha atthaṃ paletī ti atthaṃ gacchati. Na upeti saṅkhan ti “asukaṃ nāma disaṃ gato” ti vohāraṃ na gacchati. Evaṃ munī nāmakāyā vimutto ti evaṃ tattha uppanno sekkhamuni pakatiyā pubbeva rūpakāyā vimutto tattha catutthamaggaṃ nibbattetvā dhammakāyassa pariññātattā puna nāmakāyā pi vimutto ubhatobhāgavimutto khīṇāsavo hutvā anupādāparinibbāna-saṅkhātaṃ atthaṃ paleti, na upeti saṅkhaṃ “khattiyo vā brāhmaṇo vā” ti evam ādikaṃ.

Idāni “atthaṃ paletī” ti sutvā tassa yoniso atthaṃ asallakkhento “atthaṅgato so” ti gātham āha. Tass’attho so atthaṅgato udāhu natthi, udāhu ve sassatiyā sassatabhāvena arogo avipariṇāmadhammo so ti evaṃ taṃ me munī sādhu viyākarohi. Kiṃ kāraṇaṃ? Tathā hi te vidito esa dhammo ti.

Ath’assa Bhagavā tathā avattabbataṃ dassento “atthaṅgatassā” ti gātham āha. Tattha atthaṅgatassā ti anupādāparinibbutassa. Na pamāṇam atthī ti rūpādippamāṇaṃ natthi. Yena naṃ vajjun ti yena rāgādinā naṃ vadeyyuṃ. Sabbesu dhammesū ti sabbesu khandhādidhammesu. Sesaṃ sabbattha pākaṭam eva.
Evaṃ Bhagavā imaṃ suttaṃ arahattanikūṭen’eva desesi. Desanāpariyosāne ca vuttasadiso eva dhammābhisamayo ahosī ti.
