Ayaṃ maggo, ayaṃ na maggo ti evaṃ maggañ ca amaggañ ca ñatvā ṭhitaṃ ñāṇaṃ pana maggâmaggañāṇadassana-visuddhi nāma.

Taṃ sampādetukāmena kalāpa-sammasana-saṅkhātāya naya-vipassanāya tāva yogo karaṇīyo. Kasmā? Āraddhavipassakassa obhāsâdi-sambhave maggâmaggañāṇasambhavato. Āraddhavipassakassa hi obhāsâdīsu sambhūtesu maggâmaggañāṇaṃ hoti, vipassanāya ca kalāpa-sammasanaṃ ādi, tasmā etaṃ kaṅkhāvitaraṇânantaraṃ uddiṭṭhaṃ. Api ca yasmā tīraṇapariññāya vattamānāya1 maggâmaggañāṇaṃ uppajjati, tīraṇapariññā ca ñātapariññânantarā, tasmā pi taṃ maggâmaggañāṇadassana-visuddhiṃ sampādetukāmena kalāpa-sammasane tāva yogo kātabbo.

Tatrâyaṃ vinicchayo. Tisso hi lokiyapariññā: ñātapariññā tīraṇapariññā pahānapariññā ca. Yā sandhāya vuttaṃ:

“Abhiññāpaññā ñātaṭṭhe ñāṇaṃ, pariññāpaññā tīraṇaṭṭhe ñāṇaṃ, pahānapaññā pariccāgaṭṭhe ñāṇan” ti. (paṭi. ma. 1.75)

Tattha “ruppana-lakkhaṇaṃ rūpaṃ, vedayita-lakkhaṇā vedanā” ti evaṃ tesaṃ tesaṃ dhammānaṃ paccattalakkhaṇa-sallakkhaṇa-vasena pavattā paññā ñātapariññā nāma. “Rūpaṃ aniccaṃ, vedanā aniccā” ti ādinā nayena tesaṃ yeva dhammānaṃ sāmañña-lakkhaṇaṃ āropetvā pavattā lakkhaṇârammaṇika-vipassanā-paññā tīraṇapariññā nāma. Tesu yeva pana dhammesu niccasaññâdi-pajahanavasena pavattā lakkhaṇârammaṇika-vipassanā-paññā pahānapariññā nāma.

Tattha saṅkhāra-paricchedato paṭṭhāya yāva paccaya-pariggahā ñātapariññāya bhūmi. Etasmiṃ hi antare dhammānaṃ paccattalakkhaṇa-paṭivedhass’eva ādhipaccaṃ hoti. Kalāpa-sammasanato pana paṭṭhāya yāva udayabbayânupassanā tīraṇapariññāya bhūmi. Etasmiṃ hi antare sāmaññalakkhaṇa-paṭivedhass’eva ādhipaccaṃ hoti. Bhaṅgânupassanaṃ ādiṃ katvā upari pahānapariññāya bhūmi. Tato paṭṭhāya hi,

“Aniccato anupassanto niccasaññaṃ pajahati, dukkhato anupassanto sukhasaññaṃ, anattato anupassanto attasaññaṃ, nibbindanto nandiṃ, virajjanto rāgaṃ, nirodhento samudayaṃ, paṭinissajjanto ādānaṃ pajahatī” ti (paṭi. ma. 1.52)

evaṃ niccasaññâdi-pahāna-sādhikānaṃ sattannaṃ anupassanānaṃ ādhipaccaṃ.

Iti imāsu tīsu pariññāsu saṅkhāra-paricchedassa c’eva paccaya-pariggahassa ca sādhitattā iminā yoginā ñātapariññā va adhigatā hoti, itarā ca adhigantabbā. Tena vuttaṃ:

“Yasmā tīraṇapariññāya vattamānāya maggâmaggañāṇaṃ uppajjati, tīraṇapariññā ca ñātapariññânantarā, tasmā pi taṃ maggâmaggañāṇadassana-visuddhiṃ sampādetukāmena kalāpa-sammasane tāva yogo kātabbo” ti. (XX.2)

“Jātipaccayā jarāmaraṇaṃ, asati jātiyā natthi jarāmaraṇan ti saṅkhipitvā vavatthāne paññā sammasane ñāṇaṃ. Atītam pi addhānaṃ anāgatam pi addhānaṃ jātipaccayā jarāmaraṇaṃ, asati jātiyā natthi jarāmaraṇan ti saṅkhipitvā vavatthāne paññā sammasane ñāṇaṃ. Bhavapaccayā jāti…pe… avijjāpaccayā saṅkhārā, asati avijjāya natthi saṅkhārā ti saṅkhipitvā vavatthāne paññā sammasane ñāṇaṃ. Atītam pi addhānaṃ anāgatam pi addhānaṃ avijjāpaccayā saṅkhārā, asati avijjāya natthi saṅkhārā ti saṅkhipitvā vavatthāne paññā sammasane ñāṇaṃ.

Taṃ ñātaṭṭhena ñāṇaṃ, pajānanaṭṭhena paññā, tena vuccati atītânāgata-paccuppannānaṃ dhammānaṃ saṅkhipitvā vavatthāne paññā sammasane ñāṇan” ti. (paṭi. ma. 1.48)

Ettha ca “cakkhuṃ…pe… jarāmaraṇan” ti iminā peyyālena dvārârammaṇehi saddhiṃ dvārappavattā dhammā, pañcakkhandhā, cha dvārāni, cha ārammaṇāni, cha viññāṇāni, cha phassā, cha vedanā, cha saññā, cha cetanā, cha taṇhā, cha vitakkā, cha vicārā, cha dhātuyo, dasa kasiṇāni, dvattiṃsa koṭṭhāsā, dvādas’āyatanāni, aṭṭhārasa dhātuyo, bāvīsati indriyāni, tisso dhātuyo, nava bhavā, cattāri jhānāni, catasso appamaññā, catasso samāpattiyo, dvādasa paṭiccasamuppādaṅgānī ti ime dhammarāsayo saṃkhittā ti veditabbā.

Taṃ tattha evaṃ vitthārena vuttattā idha sabbaṃ peyyālena saṃkhittaṃ. Evaṃ saṃkhitte pan’ettha ye lokuttarā dhammā āgatā, te asammasanupagattā imasmiṃ adhikāre na gahetabbā. Ye pi ca sammasanupagā, tesu ye yassa pākaṭā honti, sukhena pariggahaṃ gacchanti, tesu tena sammasanaṃ ārabhitabbaṃ.

Yaṃ kiñci rūpaṃ…pe… sabbaṃ rūpaṃ aniccato vavatthapeti, ekaṃ sammasanaṃ, dukkhato anattato vavatthapeti, ekaṃ sammasanan ti (XX.6)

ettāvatā ayaṃ bhikkhu “yaṃ kiñci rūpan” ti evaṃ aniyama-niddiṭṭhaṃ sabbam pi rūpaṃ atīta-ttikena c’eva catūhi ca ajjhattâdi-dukehī ti ekādasahi okāsehi paricchinditvā sabbaṃ rūpaṃ aniccato vavatthapeti, aniccan ti sammasati. Kathaṃ? Parato vuttanayena. Vuttañ h’etaṃ:

“Rūpaṃ atītânāgata-paccuppannaṃ aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhenā” ti. (XX.7)

Tasmā esa yaṃ atītaṃ rūpaṃ, taṃ yasmā atīte yeva khīṇaṃ, nayimaṃ bhavaṃ sampattan ti aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhena, yaṃ anāgataṃ anantarabhave nibbattissati, tam pi tatth’eva khīyissati, na tato paraṃ bhavaṃ gamissatī ti aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhena, yaṃ paccuppannaṃ rūpaṃ, tam pi idh’eva khīyati, na ito gacchatī ti aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhena, yaṃ ajjhattaṃ, tam pi ajjhattam eva khīyati, na bahiddhābhāvaṃ gacchatī ti aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhena, yaṃ bahiddhā…pe… oḷārikaṃ…pe… sukhumaṃ…pe… hīnaṃ…pe… paṇītaṃ…pe… dūre…pe… santike, tam pi tatth’eva khīyati, na dūrabhāvaṃ gacchatī ti aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhenā ti sammasati. Idaṃ sabbam pi “aniccaṃ khayaṭṭhenā” ti etassa vasena ekaṃ sammasanaṃ, bhedato pana ekādasavidhaṃ hoti.

Sabbam eva ca taṃ dukkhaṃ bhayaṭṭhena. Bhayaṭṭhenā ti sappaṭibhayatāya. Yañ hi aniccaṃ, taṃ bhayâvahaṃ hoti, Sīhopamasutte (saṃ. ni. 3.78; a. ni. 4.33) devānaṃ viya. Iti idam pi “dukkhaṃ bhayaṭṭhenā” ti etassa vasena ekaṃ sammasanaṃ, bhedato pana ekādasavidhaṃ hoti.

Yathā ca dukkhaṃ, evaṃ sabbam pi taṃ anattā asārakaṭṭhena. Asārakaṭṭhenā ti “attā nivāsī kārako vedako sayaṃvasī” ti evaṃ parikappitassa attasārassa abhāvena. Yañ hi aniccaṃ dukkhaṃ, taṃ attano pi aniccataṃ vā udayabbaya-pīḷanaṃ vā vāretuṃ na sakkoti, kuto tassa kārakâdi-bhāvo? Ten’āha:

“Rūpañ ca h’idaṃ, bhikkhave, attā abhavissa, nayidaṃ rūpaṃ ābādhāya saṃvatteyyā” ti (saṃ. ni. 3.59)

ādi. Iti idam pi “anattā asārakaṭṭhenā” ti etassa vasena ekaṃ sammasanaṃ, bhedato pana ekādasavidhaṃ hoti. Esa nayo vedanâdīsu.

Yaṃ pana aniccaṃ, taṃ yasmā niyamato saṅkhatâdi-bhedaṃ hoti, ten’assa pariyāya-dassanatthaṃ, nānâkārehi vā manasikāra-ppavatti-dassanatthaṃ,

So tass’eva pañcasu khandhesu anicca-dukkhânatta-sammasanassa thirabhāvatthāya, yaṃ taṃ Bhagavatā,

“Katamehi cattārīsāya ākārehi anulomikaṃ khantiṃ paṭilabhati, katamehi cattārīsāya ākārehi sammatta-niyāmaṃ okkamatī” ti?

etassa vibhaṅge,

“Pañcakkhandhe aniccato, dukkhato, rogato, gaṇḍato, sallato, aghato, ābādhato, parato, palokato, ītito, upaddavato, bhayato, upasaggato, calato, pabhaṅguto, addhuvato, atāṇato, aleṇato, asaraṇato, rittato, tucchato, suññato, anattato, ādīnavato, vipariṇāmadhammato, asārakato, aghamūlato, vadhakato, vibhavato, sâsavato, saṅkhatato, mārâmisato, jātidhammato, jarādhammato, byādhidhammato, maraṇadhammato, sokadhammato, paridevadhammato, upāyāsadhammato, saṃkilesikadhammato” ti (paṭi. ma. 3.37)

cattārīsāya ākārehi,

“Pañcakkhandhe aniccato passanto anulomikaṃ khantiṃ paṭilabhati, pañcannaṃ khandhānaṃ nirodho niccaṃ nibbānan ti passanto sammatta-niyāmaṃ okkamatī” ti (paṭi. ma. 3.38)

ādinā nayena anulomañāṇaṃ vibhajantena pabhedato aniccâdi-sammasanaṃ vuttaṃ, tassâpi vasena ime pañcakkhandhe sammasati.

  1. anaccantikatāya ādi-antavantatāya ca aniccato,
  2. uppādavaya-paṭipīḷanatāya dukkhavatthutāya ca dukkhato,

  4. dukkhatā-sūla-yogitāya kilesâsuci-paggharaṇatāya uppāda-jarā-bhaṅgehi uddhumāta-paripakka-pabhinnatāya ca gaṇḍato,

  15. upakkamena c’eva sarasena ca pabhaṅgupagamana-sīlatāya pabhaṅguto,
  16. sabbâvattha-nipātitāya thirabhāvassa ca abhāvatāya addhuvato,
  17. atāyanatāya c’eva alabbhaneyya-khematāya ca atāṇato,
  18. allīyituṃ anarahatāya allīnānam pi ca leṇakiccâkāritāya aleṇato,
  19. nissitānaṃ bhaya-sārakattâbhāvena asaraṇato,
  20. yathāparikappitehi dhuva-subha-sukhatta-bhāvehi rittatāya rittato,
  21. rittatāy’eva tucchato, appakattā vā, — appakam pi hi loke tucchan ti vuccati,
  22. sāmi-nivāsi-kāraka-vedakâdhiṭṭhāyaka-virahitatāya suññato,
  23. sayañ ca assāmika-bhāvâditāya anattato,
  24. pavatti-dukkhatāya dukkhassa ca ādīnavatāya ādīnavato, — atha vā ādīnaṃ vāti gacchati pavattatī ti ādīnavo, kapaṇa-manussass’etaṃ adhivacanaṃ, khandhā pi ca kapaṇā yevā ti ādīnava-sadisatāya ādīnavato,
  25. jarāya c’eva maraṇena cā ti dvedhā pariṇāma-pakatitāya vipariṇāmadhammato,
  26. dubbalatāya, pheggu viya sukha-bhañjanīyatāya ca asārakato,

  28. mittamukha-sapatto viya vissāsa-ghātitāya vadhakato,
  29. vigatabhavatāya vibhava-sambhūtatāya ca vibhavato,

  31. hetupaccayehi abhisaṅkhatatāya saṅkhatato,
  32. maccumāra-kilesamārānaṃ āmisabhūtatāya mārâmisato,
  33. jāti-jarā-byādhi-maraṇa-pakatitāya jāti-jarā-byādhi-maraṇa-dhammato,
  34. soka-parideva-upāyāsa-hetutāya soka-parideva-upāyāsa-dhammato,
  35. taṇhā-diṭṭhi-duccarita-saṃkilesānaṃ visayadhammatāya saṃkilesikadhammato ti

evaṃ pabhedato vuttassa aniccâdi-sammasanassa vasena sammasati.

Ettha hi aniccato, palokato, calato, pabhaṅguto, addhuvato, vipariṇāmadhammato, asārakato, vibhavato, saṅkhatato, maraṇadhammato ti ekekasmiṃ khandhe dasa dasa katvā paññāsa aniccânupassanāni. Parato, rittato, tucchato, suññato, anattato ti ekekasmiṃ khandhe pañca pañca katvā pañcavīsati anattânupassanāni. Sesāni dukkhato, rogato ti ādīni ekekasmiṃ khandhe pañcavīsati pañcavīsati katvā pañcavīsati-sataṃ dukkhânupassanānī ti.

Icc assa iminā dvisatabhedena aniccâdi-sammasanena pañcakkhandhe sammasato taṃ naya-vipassanā-saṅkhātaṃ anicca-dukkhânatta-sammasanaṃ thiraṃ hoti. Idaṃ tāv’ettha pāḷi-nayânusārena sammasanârambha-vidhānaṃ.

Indriyatikkhakāraṇanavakakathā

Yassa pana evaṃ naya-vipassanāya yogaṃ karoto pi naya-vipassanā na sampajjati, tena “navah’ākārehi indriyāni tikkhāni bhavanti: uppannuppannānaṃ saṅkhārānaṃ khayam eva passati, tattha ca

  1. sakkacca-kiriyāya sampādeti,
  2. sātacca-kiriyāya sampādeti,
  3. sappāya-kiriyāya sampādeti,
  4. samādhissa ca nimittaggāhena,
  5. bojjhaṅgānañ ca anupavattanatāya,
  6. kāye ca
  7. jīvite ca anapekkhataṃ upaṭṭhāpeti,
  8. tattha ca abhibhuyya nekkhammena,
  9. antarā ca abyosānenā” ti

evaṃ vuttānaṃ navannaṃ ākārānaṃ vasena indriyāni tikkhāni katvā Pathavīkasiṇaniddese vuttanayena (IV.35-41) satta asappāyāni vajjetvā, satta sappāyāni sevamānena kālena rūpaṃ sammasitabbaṃ, kālena arūpaṃ.

Rūpaṃ sammasantena rūpassa nibbatti passitabbā.

Rūpanibbattipassanākārakathā

Seyyathidaṃ: idaṃ rūpaṃ nāma kammâdivasena catūhi kāraṇehi nibbattati. Tattha sabbesaṃ sattānaṃ rūpaṃ nibbattamānaṃ paṭhamaṃ kammato nibbattati. Paṭisandhikkhaṇe yeva hi gabbhaseyyakānaṃ tāva ti-santati-vasena vatthu-kāya-bhāva-dasaka-saṅkhātāni tiṃsa rūpāni nibbattanti, tāni ca kho paṭisandhicittassa uppādakkhaṇe yeva, yathā ca uppādakkhaṇe, tathā ṭhitikkhaṇe pi bhaṅgakkhaṇe pi.

Tattha rūpaṃ dandhanirodhaṃ garuparivatti, cittaṃ khippanirodhaṃ lahuparivatti. Ten’āha:

“Nâhaṃ, bhikkhave, aññaṃ ekadhammam pi samanupassāmi, yaṃ evaṃ lahuparivattaṃ yathayidaṃ, bhikkhave, cittan” ti. (a. ni. 1.48)

Rūpe dharante yeva hi soḷasavāre bhavaṅgacittaṃ uppajjitvā nirujjhati. Cittassa uppādakkhaṇo pi ṭhitikkhaṇo pi bhaṅgakkhaṇo pi ekasadisā. Rūpassa pana uppāda-bhaṅga-kkhaṇā yeva lahukā, tehi sadisā, ṭhitikkhaṇo pana mahā, yāva soḷasa cittāni uppajjitvā nirujjhanti, tāva vattati.

Paṭisandhicittassa uppādakkhaṇe uppannaṃ ṭhānappattaṃ purejātaṃ vatthuṃ nissāya dutiyaṃ bhavaṅgaṃ uppajjati. Tena saddhiṃ uppannaṃ ṭhānappattaṃ purejātaṃ vatthuṃ nissāya tatiyaṃ bhavaṅgaṃ uppajjati. Vipāka-vajjāni sesa-dasa-rūpāvacarāni, aṭṭha arūpāvacarāni, aṭṭha lokuttaracittānī ti chabbīsati cittāni rūpaṃ, iriyāpathañ ca janayanti, na viññattiṃ.

Kāmāvacare dasa bhavaṅgacittāni, rūpāvacare pañca, tisso manodhātuyo, ekā vipākâhetuka-manoviññāṇadhātu somanassasahagatā ti ekūnavīsati cittāni rūpam eva janayanti, na iriyāpathaṃ, na viññattiṃ.

Dve pañcaviññāṇāni, sabbasattānaṃ paṭisandhicittaṃ, khīṇāsavānaṃ cuticittaṃ, cattāri āruppavipākānī ti soḷasa cittāni n’eva rūpaṃ janayanti, na iriyāpathaṃ, na viññattiṃ.

Yāni c’ettha rūpaṃ janenti, tāni na ṭhitikkhaṇe, bhaṅgakkhaṇe vā. Tadā hi cittaṃ dubbalaṃ hoti, uppādakkhaṇe pana balavaṃ, tasmā taṃ tadā purejātaṃ vatthuṃ nissāya rūpaṃ samuṭṭhāpeti.

Cittasamuṭṭhānaṃ nāma tayo arūpino khandhā, “sadda-navakaṃ, kāyaviññatti, vacīviññatti, ākāsadhātu, lahutā, mudutā, kammaññatā, upacayo, santatī” ti sattarasavidhaṃ rūpañ ca. Cittapaccayaṃ nāma,

Seyyathidaṃ: idañ hi arūpaṃ nāma purimabhave āyūhita-kammavasena paṭisandhiyaṃ tāva ekūnavīsati-cittuppāda-ppabhedaṃ nibbattati. Nibbattanâkāro pan’assa Paṭiccasamuppādaniddese (XVII.134-45) vuttanayen’eva veditabbo. Tad eva paṭisandhicittassa anantaracittato paṭṭhāya bhavaṅgavasena, āyupariyosāne cutivasena. Yaṃ tattha kāmāvacaraṃ, taṃ chasu dvāresu balavârammaṇe tadārammaṇa-vasena.

Pavatte pana asambhinnattā cakkhussa, āpāthagatattā rūpānaṃ āloka-sannissitaṃ manasikāra-hetukaṃ cakkhuviññāṇaṃ nibbattati saddhiṃ sampayuttadhammehi. Cakkhupasādassa hi ṭhitikkhaṇe ṭhitippattam eva rūpaṃ cakkhuṃ ghaṭṭeti. Tasmiṃ ghaṭṭite dvikkhattuṃ bhavaṅgaṃ uppajjitvā nirujjhati. Tato tasmiṃ yeva ārammaṇe kiriyamanodhātu āvajjana-kiccaṃ sādhayamānā uppajjati. Tadanantaraṃ tad eva rūpaṃ passamānaṃ kusalavipākaṃ akusalavipākaṃ vā cakkhuviññāṇaṃ. Tato tad eva rūpaṃ sampaṭicchamānā vipāka-manodhātu. Tato tad eva rūpaṃ santīrayamānā vipākâhetuka-manoviññāṇadhātu. Tato tad eva rūpaṃ vavatthāpayamānā kiriyâhetuka-manoviññāṇadhātu upekkhāsahagatā. Tato paraṃ kāmāvacara-kusalâkusala-kiriya-cittesu ekaṃ vā upekkhāsahagatâhetukaṃ cittaṃ pañca satta vā javanāni. Tato kāmāvacara-sattānaṃ ekādasasu tadārammaṇacittesu javanânurūpaṃ4 yaṃ kiñci tadārammaṇan ti. Esa nayo sesadvāresu pi. Manodvāre pana mahaggatacittāni pi uppajjantī ti. Evaṃ chasu dvāresu arūpassa nibbatti passitabbā. Evañ hi arūpassa nibbattiṃ passanto “kālena arūpaṃ sammasati” nāma.

Kasmā? Uppādavaya-vattito, vipariṇāmato, tāvakālikato, niccapaṭikkhepato ca. Yasmā pana uppannā saṅkhārā ṭhitiṃ pāpuṇanti, ṭhitiyaṃ jarāya kilamanti, jaraṃ patvā avassaṃ bhijjanti, tasmā abhiṇha-sampaṭipīḷanato dukkhamato dukkhavatthuto sukhapaṭikkhepato ca dukkhā. Yasmā ca “uppannā saṅkhārā ṭhitiṃ mā pāpuṇantu, ṭhānappattā mā jīrantu, jarappattā mā bhijjantū” ti imesu tīsu ṭhānesu kassaci vasavattibhāvo natthi, suññā tena vasavattanâkārena, tasmā suññato, assāmikato, avasavattito, attapaṭikkhepato ca anattā ti.

Tato parāni dasa baladasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi’ssa balañ ca thāmo ca vepullaṃ pāpuṇāti. Tato parāni dasa paññādasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi’ssa paññā suppatiṭṭhitā hoti, pakatiyā kira dubbalapaññassâpi tasmiṃ kāle appamattakā paññā uppajjati yeva. Tato parāni dasa hānidasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi’ssa khiḍḍārati-vaṇṇa-bala-paññā parihāyanti. Tato parāni dasa pabbhāradasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi’ssa attabhāvo purato pabbhāro hoti. Tato parāni dasa vaṅkadasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi’ssa attabhāvo naṅgalakoṭi viya vaṅko hoti. Tato parāni dasa momūhadasakaṃ nāma, tadā hi so momūho hoti, kataṃ kataṃ pamussati. Tato parāni dasa sayanadasakaṃ nāma, vassasatiko hi sayana-bahulo va hoti.

Evaṃ vīsati-koṭṭhāsavasena vayovuḍḍhatthaṅgamato tilakkhaṇaṃ āropetvā puna pañcavīsati koṭṭhāse katvā catunnaṃ catunnaṃ vassānaṃ vasena āropeti, tato tettiṃsa koṭṭhāse katvā tiṇṇaṃ tiṇṇaṃ vassānaṃ vasena, paññāsa koṭṭhāse katvā dvinnaṃ dvinnaṃ vassānaṃ vasena, sataṃ koṭṭhāse katvā ekekavassavasena. Tato ekaṃ vassaṃ tayo koṭṭhāse katvā vassāna-hemanta-gimhesu tīsu utūsu ekeka-utuvasena tasmiṃ vayovuḍḍhatthaṅgamarūpe tilakkhaṇaṃ āropeti.

Kathaṃ? “Vassāne catumāsaṃ pavattarūpaṃ hemantaṃ appatvā tatth’eva niruddhaṃ, hemante pavattarūpaṃ gimhaṃ appatvā tatth’eva niruddhaṃ, gimhe pavattarūpaṃ puna vassānaṃ appatvā tatth’eva niruddhaṃ, tasmā taṃ aniccaṃ dukkham anattā” ti.

Ahaṃ vipassāmi, mama vipassanā ti gaṇhato hi diṭṭhi-samugghāṭanaṃ nāma na hoti. Saṅkhārā va saṅkhāre vipassanti sammasanti vavatthapenti pariggaṇhanti paricchindantī ti gaṇhato pana diṭṭhi-ugghāṭanaṃ nāma hoti.

Suṭṭhu vipassāmi, manāpaṃ vipassāmī ti gaṇhato māna-samugghāṭo nāma na hoti. Saṅkhārā va saṅkhāre vipassanti sammasanti vavatthapenti pariggaṇhanti paricchindantī ti gaṇhato pana māna-samugghāṭo nāma hoti.

Vipassituṃ sakkomī ti vipassanaṃ assādentassa nikanti-pariyādānaṃ nāma na hoti. Saṅkhārā va saṅkhāre vipassanti sammasanti vavatthapenti pariggaṇhanti paricchindantī ti gaṇhato pana nikanti-pariyādānaṃ nāma hoti.

Thero pucchitapucchitaṃ asajjamāno va kathesi. “Imāni dasa ṭhānāni paññāyassa pariccitā,
dhammuddhaccakusalo hoti na ca vikkhepaṃ gacchatī” ti. (paṭi. ma. 2.7)

So evaṃ vikkhepaṃ agacchanto taṃ samatiṃsavidhaṃ upakkilesajaṭaṃ vijaṭetvā obhāsâdayo dhammā na maggo, upakkilesa-vimuttaṃ pana vīthipaṭipannaṃ vipassanāñāṇaṃ maggo ti maggañ ca amaggañ ca vavatthapeti.

Tass’evaṃ “ayaṃ maggo, ayaṃ na maggo” ti maggañ ca amaggañ ca ñatvā ṭhitaṃ ñāṇaṃ maggâmaggañāṇadassana-visuddhī ti veditabbaṃ. Ettāvatā ca pana tena tiṇṇaṃ saccānaṃ vavatthānaṃ kataṃ hoti.

Kathaṃ? Diṭṭhivisuddhiyaṃ tāva nāmarūpassa vavatthāpanena dukkhasaccassa vavatthānaṃ kataṃ, kaṅkhāvitaraṇavisuddhiyaṃ paccayapariggahaṇena samudayasaccassa vavatthānaṃ, imissaṃ maggâmaggañāṇadassana-visuddhiyaṃ sammāmaggassa avadhāraṇena maggasaccassa vavatthānaṃ katan ti. Evaṃ lokiyen’eva tāva ñāṇena tiṇṇaṃ saccānaṃ vavatthānaṃ kataṃ hoti.
